Overview: Hope House of Savannah is a home for single mothers and their babies. The program attempts to break the cycle of poverty and dependence by guiding the young mothers toward independence and providing them with a caring environment. Mothers learn to better nurture their children as they develop coping skills, life skills, socialization skills and positive behaviors.
Activities:

Direct Services:

  • The Shelter - accommodates 7 mothers and their children during long-term transitions while the women find employment and permanent housing.
  • Counseling sessions - serve to guide and support mothers while they work on achieving goal-oriented behaviors.
  • Parenting classes - place an emphasis on child rearing, prevention of child abuse and neglect and effective parenting techniques.
  • In-services - devote attention to women's issues such as health, family violence and life skills.
  • Recreational activities - offer mothers the opportunity to develop socialization skills.
  • Peeler Home - is a graduate program for succesful Hope House residents. It's a transitional living facility for 8 mothers and 8 children. The mothers are allowed 18 - 24 months to receive a technical degree.
